Pokemon's Control Over the Genre

As indie devs copy pokemon and analysing games like Monster Rancher , Pixelmon and Dokev…

Games like Coromon Monster Crown Palworld try to avoid beign called a copy I try my call for help to the indie scene to stop copying the Meta of Monster collector , Creature Training and start getting new inspiration, its always pokemon enters the topic of citys in pokemon , and gameplay and missing animations and the overall pokemon brainwash of the genre , and of course how to caracterize your monsters and give them personality .

As pocket monsters a series about collecting creatures becomes the baseline for every game , Ignoring any other contribution like Digimon and the rest it doesnt matter if its on PC DS PS1 or Switch it thrieves as the biggest influence

  1. thank you man, you make me realize that i don't have shitty ideas, a monster collector that isn't just a pokemon clone is possible, i have 2 ideas actually to a monster collector:
1.a real time RPG where you adopt sentient monsters (sentient means they can also have people/human like lifes), where you train them and either partecipate them in contexts or do the story mode where you stop the bad guy, not only the monster will fight, but your character can also train and fight with them, there are also elements, but instead of weaknesses and strongnesses, each element has an ability.
    2. a metroidvania game where the monsters are raised like tamagochis, and they help you in the metroidvania section (they can be weapons, armors or npcs that fight with you).
Hope i suceed, even if little, and hope u like these ideas!

  2. Bringing up medabots is pain, I loved it so much and it just died outside japan, and they still have games coming out but they don’t translate/port them, and Zatch bell mamodo fury cut so many characters out when they imported it, no playable Pamoon for us, at least Digimon started getting games again after they dried up post ps2 era, cyber sleuth and its sequel are the greatest digimon games hands down even if the combat doesn’t feel as good as pokemon with the type match ups and how all the damage is calculated, heck they had to nerf piercing damage in hackers memory and the switch version of sleuth most likely for pvp which was a shit show
